Shelby turned five months old today. I can't believe she's almost half a year old! To celebrate, we went for an early dinner and frozen yogurt in Decatur.
Five fun facts about Shelby at five months old:
- She loves bath time and will kick, smile and giggle the minute we set her in the water. When we pour water on her belly with a cup, she will reach out and put her hands in the stream and try to grab the water. It's so cute!
- She's really good at assisted sitting. If she's propped up on a pillow or your legs, she can sit up for quite a long time. She's getting strong!
- Things that make her laugh: She loves "airplane" and giggles like crazy if you lay on your back and hold her up and make her "fly" with your legs. She is also fascinated by faces and loves to laugh and touch your face if you lean in close to hers. She also laughs like crazy if you lean in and pretend to eat her ears or neck while singing "nom nom nom nom" in a high pitched voice.
- She loves grabbing her feet. I think she even likes to wake up late at night / in the wee hours of the morning and practice this fun new game. If we wake up to a thump thump thump in the middle of the night, that's what she's doing - grabbing her feet and bicycling and kicking her legs. In fact, her legs are getting pretty strong and it actually hurts if she kicks you in the face or neck. She gets a big laugh out of you acting all dramatic and injured after one of her karate kicks.
- She absolutely loves to play with and chomp on this weird looking French baby toy named Pie Pink. I think this strange squeaky baby toy is a cousin of the insanely popular Sophie the Giraffe. We received it as a gift and I don't know what that thing is made of (the box said natural, phthalate-free rubber) but it must taste delicious to babies. I had to laugh at this part of the description on Amazon - "Don't be afraid to chew on the 2 small ears on top of her head! It is completely safe!" - because Shelby chews on that toy with such ferocity and intensity that Scott regularly worries about her chomping those ears off and choking.
Shelby is getting really fun to play with. Her little personality is starting to shine though and we will do anything to get those wonderful laughs and coos. We love you, Shelby girl!
