A Short Walk

Shelby asked to go on a walk this afternoon and with temperatures hovering around 100 degrees this week, she quickly declared it "too hot" and asked to go home.

She wanted to take her Uga dog on the walk, too.

Stone Mountain Sunday

She's getting so big!

Here are some new pictures from our trip to Stone Mountain on Sunday morning. We thought we were getting a "great deal" by buying the annual parking pass and going as many times as we wanted to, but every time we're there, we inevitably spend about $20 to ride the silly train that goes around the mountain. Oh well. Shelby loves it and has a great time every time we go to "the big rock" as she calls it, so it's totally worth it. See more pictures in a new gallery right here.

The Frosty Caboose

We had a fun evening in Chamblee tonight. We ate dinner at Galla's (highly recommend the steak and cheese pizza) and had dessert at the Frosty Caboose. It's a former caboose now parked and converted into an ice cream stand. Shelby just learned the word for caboose so of course she loved it. It's right next to some train tracks and a MARTA line so we even got to see some trains go by. It was a perfect summer evening.

Farmer's Market Fun

Our little Main Street hosts a farmer's market twice a week, on Sunday mornings and Thursday afternoons. Today we went to the afternoon market and Shelby had a great time strolling around. They were celebrating the first day of summer and giving away lots of fun kid-friendly things like balloons, bubbles, plastic Hawaiian leis and stickers. You know... the cheap junk that kids LOVE for some reason. She was in heaven, of course. We bought some fresh summer corn, peaches and blueberries and Shelby wanted the blueberries so badly we had to open the carton right there on the sidewalk while she shoved handfuls of berries in her mouth. A ringing endorsement! We also had to get a fancifully-flavored King of Pops popsicle - an Atlanta sensation. Our "downtown" wasn't anything to write home about when we first moved to Tucker, but it's really come a long way and continues to get better.

Here's a cute video from the weekend that Scott edited using some footage that Carrie took at the pool on Saturday with the waterproof camera. Shelby and Luke had a great time splashing around with each other.

Tea Party Time

They take their tea drinking very seriously. 

Today we met up with friends at a local cupcake bakery and had an impromptu tea and cupcake party for Sasha's second birthday. It was so cute! 

Happy Father's Day!

We had a great Father's Day weekend. We had some friends in town and Saturday the dads got to enjoy a fun day out at the Braves game, while the girls took the little ones out for pizza and pool time. Sunday, we made a big breakfast for everyone and the Kelly's went to another Braves game while we enjoyed the afternoon at Papa's pool before going out to dinner. Scott also got to sleep in (the greatest gift of all) and went to a movie during her nap time. Shelby has a great time with Luke and enjoys having another little person in the house to play with. This was really the first time she's painted at home (they paint ALL THE TIME at school, so I don't feel to bad not breaking out messy paints at home) and she loved it! She knew exactly what to do and really enjoyed putting as much color as possible all over the piece of paper. Our little Picasso! 

Bike Ride

On our evening walk (with the bag of blocks) we ran into our neighbors down the street. They were out on a bike ride and their daughter - who's about Shelby's age - was riding on a toddler seat on the back of one of their bikes. We got a bike seat for Shelby for her birthday, but she hasn't been to keen on riding in it. Well, once again, peer pressure won out! After she saw Rylan riding on the back of the bike, she requested to wear a "hat" and ride a bike, too! Scott dug our bike out of the garage and rode up and down the street with her on the back. She loved it and even shouted "Wheeee!" a couple of times. I'm glad she finally decided she liked the bike seat so we can go on many more rides this summer. 

Two Year Olds are Weird

Oh nothing, I just wanted to take this HUGE bag of blocks with me on my walk this evening. Why? No particular reason. Just felt like dragging a bag of blocks down the sidewalk.

Pool Fun

Here's a short video that Scott made with his new toy - a waterproof video camera. Shelby's little legs kicking furiously below the water are so cute! She's like a little duck!

Live from London

So this funny thing happened to us while we were in London... My friend works as a producer at CNN in Atlanta and texted us on our last day there asking if we wanted to do a live phone interview on Headline News. I guess they were doing some coverage on the Diamond Jubilee, she had seen our pictures on Facebook, and suggested us for an interview?! Anyway, they did two spots - one at 3:00 and one at 6:00 and interviewed each of us. The videos are below. Excuse us if we sound incoherent - it was our last day there, we were exhausted and we had to stay up late because of the time change. It was a fun thing to do on our final day there and a nice little memory of the trip!

My Little Swimmer

Shelby had a great time at the pool tonight. She loved kicking around in her float and asked to wear her jelly shoes in the water.

Twins

I came downstairs today to leave for work and I was wearing a polk-a-dot dress. Shelby pointed at it and said "dots!" and declared she wanted to wear dots, too. Luckily I found a semi-matching dress in her closet, so today we got to be twins. As the mom of a daughter, is there anything more fun than coordinating outfits!?

Sunday Funday

What do you do when it rains all day on a Sunday? You go to Target and buy $3 bouncy balls! We laughed about the fact that we are now hesitant to take her to indoor play places (she got sick last time we went) but it was perfectly okay to play all over the filthy floor of a Target store. We went to go pick out a new pool floaty toy because she was all about another toddler's turtle float the last time we were at the pool, but when we showed it to her and asked her if she wanted it, she said no. Of course, like any two-year-old, she only wants what someone else is playing with at that moment... then it's the best toy ever! 

I swear it seems like she changed in the five days I was gone. She's saying a ton more words on a daily basis, stringing together longer sentences and it even seems like her hair is longer. She says the funniest things and makes us laugh so much. 

Back From London

Sorry for the lack of updates lately! I am just now getting over jet lag and getting back into my regular schedule. We had a fantastic time in London - you can see pictures from our trip in a new photo gallery.

Off to London!

I am leaving today for a five-day trip to London to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee! I am going with my friend Carrie - just the two of us moms, enjoying some good times in England! We'll miss our babies but are super excited to have some adventures. I'll try to post some pictures while we are over there. Bon voyage!
