I always go into check on Shelby before I go to bed and she was sleeping just like this... so funny! She is still in the crib and doesn't seem to want to transition to a big bed and I am OK with that. You can see all of her "guys" around her... I think she will move to a big bed when she gets crowded out by stuffed animals, lovies and toys!
School Stuff
Shelby wants to be "a mommy" when she grows up. Awww!
Her faces. She said they were, Daddy, Mommy and Papa. I think they are amazing!
Here's some cute stuff from Shelby's classroom. The first is a poster where they asked everyone in the class what they wanted to be when they grew up. Click on the picture to enlarge it and read it - the answers are hilarious! Doctor, princess, lawyer and "get a new house" are just some of the answers. Shelby said she wanted to be a mommy. How sweet!
The second picture is of some faces she drew. She is doing such a great job and I think they are so good. She is quite the little artist!
Hoops and Hiking
Shelby had a great time at the Georgia basketball game this weekend.
Her entire reason for going: she was dying to see Spike and Hairy Dawg. Mission accomplished.
We spent a gorgeous Sunday on Stone Mountain.
It was so pretty today!
We had a fun weekend. We spent the day in Athens on Saturday and went to the Georgia basketball game. It's always a treat for kids - there's action, music, lights and mascots galore. Shelby loved it. On Sunday, the weather was nice so we spent the morning at Stone Mountain. Shelby and Scott rode the gondola to the top (Shelby calls it the "gongola") and I got my workout in by running a little and then hiking to the top. It was beautiful weather! I can't wait until spring and we can enjoy more time outdoors.

President's Day
I promise she eats other foods besides ice cream, but it's always such a photographable event that it just looks like she's on an all-dairy diet!
Scott had to work on President's Day yesterday but Shelby and I had the day off. We decided to check out an indoor playground called Catch Air and it was awesome! We met our friends there for a playdate and Shelby and Everett had an awesome time. Afterwards we went for lunch at Jason's Deli and Shelby thought the free ice cream cone for dessert was the greatest thing ever. She was a sweet, cooperative girl all day long and we had a nice day together. She's so incredibly talkative now and says the funniest things all the time.
Winter Fun and Fevers
Last week, we took Shelby to a special "winter wonderland" evening event at the library. The kids could wear their pajamas and she thought that was the best part! They read winter stories and did a snowman craft. The next day she had a low fever (but no other symptoms) so we stayed home from school. She seemed to feel fine and acted cheerful so we went out for an ice cream treat that afternoon. She will always perk up for some ice cream!
Puppets and Art
I would just like to point out how my child's artwork has evolved! Look at those faces! They even have arms! I am impressed.
We made a trip to the Center for Puppetry Arts on this cold weekend. It was my first time there and I thought it was great! Their main attraction is an impressive Jim Henson exhibit with Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Kermit, Swedish Chef and a host of other characters. The exhibits also feature puppets and creations from other Henson projects like Fraggle Rock, Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. This 80s kid loved it! We toured the exhibits for a while and then caught they daytime children's show. We got a discount through a pass that you can check out a the library. It was a fun way to spend a Saturday morning.
Winter Getaway
Sorry for the lack of posts this week... but Scott and I made a quick winter escape to Palm Beach! We found a cheap airfare, planned a last-minute adult getaway and it was wonderful! We missed Shelby, but this was our first time that we were both away from her for longer than one night and a quick break to relax was total bliss!
The days seemed to stretch on forever when we didn't have someone to entertain and take care of non-stop. And the leisurely meals and sleeping in... heaven! It was wonderful to rest, recharge and enjoy some warm temperatures. It's been so cold and rainy this winter - I needed some sunshine and blue skies!
