Me: Shelby, what do you want to be for Halloween?
Shelby: A ladybug pinwheel.
Me: Shelby, where do you want to go eat for Daddy's birthday?
Shelby: Candy.
Me: (on the way to Athens on Saturday morning): Shelby, look, there's Stone Mountain.
Shelby: Wake up, mountain.
A Fun Fall Weekend
We had a great weekend! The weather was that perfect fall mix of cool mornings and warm sunny afternoons that just make me happy! We got up early on Saturday and went to Athens for a day of tailgating before a night game. Shelby had so much fun running around and goofing off before going back to our friends' house for an afternoon nap. We got an extra ticket for the game so she got to go to the game for a quarter before going back to the house to go to bed. She had so much fun at the game and could not stop talking about "Hairy Dawg" and "Uga's red house" all day Sunday. On Sunday morning, we loaded the kids in the wagon and walked to the Five Points Waffe House for a takeout order and to Jittery Joe's for coffee ... it was a perfect fall morning! Then we came back to Atlanta for afternoon naps and relaxing. In the evening, we went to the playground at Peachtree DeKalb Airport and to Galla's for a pizza dinner. A perfect end to a perfect weekend! I love fall!
Football
First thing in the morning, right after Shelby wakes up and I go to get her out of her crib:
Me: Shelby, what are we doing today?
Shelby: Going to football game and going to see uncle Dave and Luke and Tim and Carrie and Uga and wear football dress, not kitty shirt, football dress.
You got it, kiddo.

Football Treats
I made these cute Rice Krispie footballs for tailgating tomorrow. Get the recipe here.
A Few More Beach Pictures
I didn't take many pictures with my nice camera this year (something about sand, salt and a wiggly little girl that won't sit still for one second) and I left my point and shoot at home, so nearly all of my pictures were taken on my iPhone. At first I was mad I left my little Canon at home, but the camera on the iPhone is pretty good! I did manage to take my nice camera down to the beach one afternoon and snapped a few quick pics.
My favorite picture from the week!
Life's a Beach
We had an amazing week at Rosemary Beach! Each year, it just gets more and more fun to take Shelby to the beach and on vacations. This year, she had so much fun playing in the sand, building castles and splashing in the waves. We walked out to a sand bar a couple of times and she loved playing in the shallow water and asked for "sanbar" over and over again after that. She did great sleeping in a "big girl bed" (a double bed pushed up against the wall with plenty of pillows - her first time out of the pack n play!) She was even pretty well-behaved on our many meals out to eat. She loved walking around in "downtown" Rosemary and throwing pennies in the "mountain" (fountain). We can't wait to go back!
Being on central time, we still got up very early but had relaxing mornings on our gulf-front balcony. We painted with watercolors and spotted dolphins swimming and jumping out in the water nearly every morning. After breakfast, we usually went on a long walk or went to the beach for a couple of hours before heading in for lunch, a "mini bath" (what Shelby called a rinse off) and a nap. We usually went to the beach again in the afternoon and then out for dinner and an early bedtime - we were tired and never quite adjusted to the hour time difference. We got to see our friends Chris and Mauri a few times and Shelby liked seeing "Mr. Chris" and his cat Scuff. Shelby had so much fun spending the week with Papa and Glee and gave them the cutest bedtime kisses every night! She was a sweet girl!
You can see the rest of the pictures in a new gallery.
Fun in the Sun
Shelby aka Elton John has had a great week at the beach. Tomorrow is our last full day and we'll be sad to leave.
Funny Words
Shelby is really into birthdays and when we ask her when her birthday is, she says March. We recently taught her what months our birthdays are in and she knows mine is November and Scott's is in October. Tonight, I asked her when Daddy's birthday was and she said "Octopus!" It was so cute, I didn't correct her.
