Shelby got the second haircut of her life yesterday... doesn't she look thrilled? The stylist trimmed off about three inches and it looks cute. It was so long and was getting a little unruly from all the pool time we've had this summer!
Chalk Scribbles
We had dessert last week at a cupcake shop near our house. There's a chalk wall in the back and Shelby drew this picture and wrote "mommy" and "Shelby" without any assistance. I added the heart! She said the picture is a picture of her holding a cat. So cute!
A Fun Fourth
After recovering from my race, we continued with our day of Fourth of July festivities. First stop: our pool. This was the first summer we didn't have to contend with nap time - or rain! - and could enjoy the festivities. They have a bike parade, cannon ball contest, watermelon and "dive for drinks" (toss a bunch of can sodas in the pool and let everyone jump in at once to get one!).
Shelby with her patriotic balloons and bathing suit!
That would be Scott competing in the "dad's division" of the cannonball contest!
Later that afternoon, we went to Papa and Glee's house for more swimming, a cook out and to watch fireworks. Their neighborhood puts on a show and it's pretty impressive. This was also one of the first years we didn't have to plan around an early bedtime or rain, so it was a great day!

Whee!
Running around in the backyard!
Running around on the golf course! Scott was excited to fly his helicopter around.
Shelby loved their pool and was so confident with swimming in the deep without a floaty and jumping off the side. We have a swimmer.
Cutting daises in the backyard for a bouquet. So sweet.
Sparklers! Shelby loves them.
Boom! Perfect ending to a perfect day!
Peachtree Road Race
I had a GREAT experience at the Peachtree Road Race this year. The weather was amazing... cool and hardly any humidity. I finished with my fastest time yet: 1 hour and 53 seconds - so tantalizingly close to my goal of finishing in under an hour! UGH! Maybe next year!
At the start line - gorgeous day!
Just some of the massive crowd at the finish line. Where's Waldo? I found him!
Shelby and Scott came down to meet me and parked at Scott's office on Peachtree Street. They brought me a donut - how nice!
We stayed down on Peachtree for a while to watch the runners. Shelby loved it.
Then we went up to Daddy's office to get a bird's eye view!
