Fun Fall Weekend

The zoo carousel - a favorite.

We packed as much fall fun as possible into this weekend! It always seems like October is filled with so many fall festivals, carnivals and events that we try to hit as many as possible and still miss half of them. On Saturday, we went to "Boo at the Zoo" at Zoo Atlanta. They decorate the park, hand out candy and the kids can dress in their costumes. We brought Shelby's ladybug costume and she decided she didn't want to wear it, so we left it in the car. The second we go in the gates and she saw everyone else dressed up, she decided she wanted it. Daddy was a trooper and went all the way back out to the car to get it. Shelby wore it for about five minutes and decided to take it off. Toddlers!

Shelby and her pal Rylan on the hayride.

After Shelby's nap, we walked up the block to our elementary school fall carnival. She had a great time playing games, going on a hayride and playing with her neighborhood friends. Every time we go to an event with a bounce house, Shelby talks a big game about wanting to go in, but then chickens out once she gets up there and sees all the bigger kids inside (I am perfectly OK with this - some kid got kicked in the mouth at this one!) This carnival had a bouncy slide thing that Shelby wanted to go on, so Scott and I each took a turn going down with her. It was like that scene in the movie "Four Christmases" - adults getting run over by kids on bounce houses is not my idea of fun!

Just clowning around.

Shelby gets her face painted. She's a pro at sitting still... for this and this only.

I want this one!

On Sunday, we did the annual church pumpkin patch visit and picked out a couple of gourds to take home and decorate the front porch. We ran into a classmate from pre-school and Shelby had a great time playing with her friend Ami on the church playground. It was a great unplanned treat! The weather was gorgeous all weekend and it was so nice to be out and about! We are looking forward to our trip to Jekyll Island this weekend - Shelby has been talking about it for weeks and asking when we're going to "the beach house" with our friends.
