It's a cold and slow January so we've been trying to keep busy with some fun little activities to ward off cabin fever! I am perfectly fine bumming around the house all day, but Shelby would be a couch potato if we let her so we try to venture out!
In her cold weather dance gear. Her leg warmers are some Baby Legs leg coverings that I bought her as an infant. They still work!
Trip to Decatur for Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams. It seems weird to get ice cream in the dead of winter, but this place is amazing and their flavors are incredible and so unique. It's a special treat.
Another special treat! We were not planning to stop into Mac McGee (next door to Jeni's) but they were having their fifth anniversary party so we felt it was only necessary to stop into our favorite Decatur pub for a pint a poutine. Ice cream, beer and cheese and gravy chips ... the dinner of champions. We came here for St. Patrick's Day back when I was pregnant so of course we had to return to the pub that is the same age as our child - and apparently has not changed its all children welcome policy!
On Sunday I went to see Swan Lake at the Fox Theatre with an old friend. She won tickets and knew I liked ballet so she offered me her extra ticket. I am so glad I went! It was beautiful! I am familiar with the Tchaikovsky score but had never seen the ballet performed in its entirety. I loved it. It was so nice to catch up and do something spontaneous and out of the ordinary. Here's to saying "yes" more in 2015 - yes to face-to-face catching up, yes to doing something spontaneous, yes to making plans and breaking out of your routine.
